After having a quick-ish look at Vintage Collection Man-at-Arms recently, these two scary looking characters turned up: Mantenna and Anti-Eternia He-Man!

The two figures of Mantenna and Anti-Eternia He-Man standing in front of their boxes. Mantenna is on the left and is a four-legged insect-human with blue and skin and eyes on eye-stalks! Anti-Eternia He-Man is an evil version of He-Man with jet black skin and reddish-brown armour.

Masterverse Wave 19

New Eternia Mantenna and Anti-Eternia He-Man are both from the Masterverse Wave 19 which came out at the end of 2025. Or not as the case may be. It does seem to depend on where you are in the world. Mosquitor is supposed to be in this wave too but here in the UK at least, this particular member of the Evil Horde has been delayed.

Anyway! Let’s push FOMO to one side for a moment and take a look at what has arrived:

A close up photo of Mantenna's face. It's really quite ugly: bright red, has an open mouth with it's teeth and mandibles showing. It has huge ears and large orange eyes. These have a see through plastic and under the orange the blood shot pupils can be made out!

Mantenna

I don’t have any Mantenna figures to compare this one to but I can say this is a big and scary version of the evil Horde’s spy! If all you remember is the goofy version from the 1980s She-Ra cartoon, this might be a bit of a surprise. However, the design doesn’t depart that far from the original vintage figure which had a very insectoid and monstrous look.

There are some call backs to earlier concept designs for Mantenna though, particularly the strange looking blaster:

Four Legs or Two?

The biggest difference between this new figure and the vintage one is in the legs. Mantenna here has two pairs of legs. Four legs! This is awesome as the vintage version only had one pair but they were moulded to look like two pairs of legs. I can remember as a kid scratching my head and trying to work out whether he had four legs or two weird looking legs.

Well, this figure certainly answers that as all four legs are not only separate but are fully articulated.

A photo of the lower half of Mantenna. The figure has four legs, all articulated at the hip, knees and ankles. The legs are moulded in a dark blue plastic with each wearing a black and red coloured boot.
Yep, that’s definitely four legs!

Four Eyes!

Although there’s no “pop out eyes” action feature here, this Mantenna does come with attachable eye stalks and a choice of two pairs of eyes. Not only that, but these also fit into the end of the blaster!

It’s freaky but really cool!

Anti-Eternia?

A close up photo of Anti-Eternia He-Man's face. It's moulded in a jet black plastic and has red eyes and hair. The helmet is a pearly white winged head or face. It really stands out against the figure's black skin.

The other figure that arrived from this wave is Anti-Eternia He-Man. Before looking at the figure, a quick explanation of what the heck Anti-Eternia is!

This concept was first introduced in some German radio plays back in the 1980s. I think the general idea is that Anti-Eternia is basically a dimension of opposites, so there’s an evil He-Man and the evil equivalent of Castle Grayskull is Castle Hellskull.

Fast forward to 2016 and the Classics line did a deep cut He-Man variant figure, based on the He-Man from Anti-Eternia. Looking at pictures of this figure, it looks like a complete re-use of the Classics He-Man figure, albeit with a very good paint job and an alternative shield. This was followed in 2022 by the Origins line also doing another Anti-Eternia He-Man figure. Again, simply re-using the Origins line He-Man mould.

The Anti-Eternia alternate dimension was expanded further with the Masters of the Multiverse comics mini-series, published by DC. In this, Anti-Eternia He-Man (also called Anti-He-Man) is the main villain, going on a multi-dimensional rampage.

Anti-Eternia He-Man

With that explanation out of the way, let’s look at the figure:

I’ve got to say, this is a much more elaborate version of Anti-Eternia He-Man than has been previously released. Of course, there is a lot of re-use from earlier He-Man figures in the Masterverse line, however the chest harness, shield and Sword of Power are all new. Plus there’s the inclusion of a couple of alternative swords too.

A Choice of Looks

This version of Anti-Eternia He-Man comes with a helmet based on the design of Castle Hellskull. Plus a separate hair piece if you prefer an unhelmeted look! If you want to go hairless, you can and this seems to be an intentional option as the head has a scar above the left eye brow.

Worth It?

This time around, this is a really easy question to answer! As this is the first time these two characters have appeared in the Masterverse line, if you can I’d say go for it. Perhaps sooner rather than later as I can see these two becoming quite rare.

They are both fantastic and elaborate versions of the characters, particularly the menacing Mantenna. Anti-Eternia He-Man is a really nice deep cut character and isn’t simply a lazy re-use of prior parts.
