Well, I’ve certainly been neglecting this place so far this year!
To be a bit fair to myself I have been tinkering around the edges, experimenting with privacy conscious site analytics and generally trying to de-Google things a bit.
Why de-Google? Well, while I’m vain enough to actually want to see which of my posts get the most views, I certainly don’t want or need to know any information much beyond that. So choosing a solution that respects visitors privacy – and Google Analytics certainly doesn’t – is important to me. At the moment I’m trialing Fathom Analytics and it seems to do what it says on the tin.
So I’ve sort of got a two-thirds-of-the-way-through-the-year resolution of posting here more often. I’ve certainly got a long to-do list of posts. If nothing else, writing the ones with collecting information – like I’ve done for Batman and Hulk – help me to work out what’s collected where even if nobody reads them!
