DC has continued with both of these lines of chunky paperbacks, collecting Post-Crisis, late 1980s and early 1990s Batman and Detective Comics.
I’ve updated the main post on this here – Holy Collecting Crisis! – but some of the highlights are:
Caped Crusader
Volume 6 has now been published. Issue #474 of Batman isn’t collected here. Originally I thought this was simply a mistake in the listing but it’s all become clear: This issue will appear in the upcoming Volume 7 of the Dark Detective line as it continues a story line started there.
This volume could well be the last one in this particular line, as it brings the Batman title up to the beginning of the Knightfall saga.
If you’ve already got those books, that’s that gap closed!
Dark Knight Detective
Similarly, Volume 6 of this line is also now out. This expands on some issues that were previously collected in the paperback Batman: Dark Knight, Dark City published in 2015.
That leaves Volume 7, which I’ve found a bit confusing to track. This listing on Speedyhen in the UK shows it as having been published back in March and is out of stock. I think (hoping!) it’s simply a case of its publication date being pushed back but being reflected in listings yet.
This line of books is a bit behind the Caped Crusader line and doesn’t join up with the Knightfall saga yet. It’s not far off though, perhaps two more volumes after this will nail it.
So close!
