Not long after posting about the Moon Knight Omnibuses last year, I tripped over this fun thing which I just had to have – a facsimile edition of Moon Knight #1!
I am probably the last person to have realised that there’s a whole series of these published by Marvel and DC, but here goes with a brief explanation:
These are faithful reprints of important and popular issues of older comics. In other words, they’re single issue reprints printed on nice, thick glossy paper. Quite a step up from the old news print used in the originals!
They’re really good fun as they include all of the period adverts, letter pages and I think, any other articles orignally published in the issue such as Bullpen Bulletins.
I stalled on writing this short post as I couldn’t find a definitive list of Marvel or DC’s facsimile editions. However there’s quite a good list of Marvel and DC facsimile editions at Reed Comics.
I’ve got to resist the urge to collect these though – I’ve got enough collecting projects on the go as it is!
