Courtesy of the Marvel Masterworks line I finally checked out an example from the romance genre of comics from the Golden Age.

I’ve been sitting on this post for a bit in the hope that a ray of light would shine through and I could write something more along the lines of “phew, that was a near miss!”.
Alas, I haven’t spotted anything to that affect so I’m assuming that the news is correct and as of the end of this year the Masterworks line will be cancelled by Marvel.
I’m very behind with Marvel Masterworks for reasons which will become clear. Especially if I manage to pull my finger out and do the next series of posts I’m planning!
However! I did get a couple for Christmas: Spider-Woman Vol. 4 and Marvel Two-in-One Vol. 7.
(more…)What a catchy title for a book! A few months ago, I finally managed to track a copy of this Masterwork down for a not crazy price. As this was the final gap in the older volumes of the Masterworks in my collection, I’d thought I’d briefly celebrate snagging it Read more
Interested in the Masterworks line but missed out on those early volumes? This could be just for you!
The news regarding “ReMasterworks” was announced way back in summer 2022 by Marvel but I was rather sceptical. Sure, this is primitive stuff compared to comics published now, but his characters packed plenty of personality! This is helped by this Read more
Vaguely tying in with the recent Moon Knight series on Disney+, this year Marvel published a second omnibus volume collecting the classic 1980s comics, including those written by Doug Moench with art by Bill Sienkiewicz. Naturally, I bought the second volume to go with the first but it got it Read more
On a more fun note than dealing with mouldy books, a few weeks back I got the latest edition of the Captain Britain Omnibus. It’s a very comprehensive tome (which you’d expect with a page count of about 1368!) collecting almost all of Captain Britain’s appearances up to his inclusion Read more
With the latest edition of Jack Kirby’s The Fourth World Omnibus now safely in my clutches, I thought I’d compare it to the recent The Eternals: The Complete Saga Omnibus.
This is such a great visual of Toro diving into water. Above water, he’s still on fire but as his head and arms go under his flame is extinguished.
