Toro Dives into Action!
A quick post to highlight a panel I love featuring Toro the Flaming Kid, the Golden Age Human Torch’s sidekick.
This is such a great visual of Toro diving into water. Above water, he’s still on fire but as his head and arms go under his flame is extinguished.
(Toro is diving down to tackle a crook by the way, not holding someone’s head under water!)

I haven’t spotted much of this playfulness by the artist Carl Burgos before. Now I’ll have to go back through earlier volumes and take another look!
I got this panel from volume 6 of the Golden Age Marvel Masterworks Marvel Comics that collects Marvel Mystery Comics #21-24.
